Oral Surgery in Siler City, NC
For a long time, “you’ll need oral surgery” meant a long drive to Raleigh, Durham, or Greensboro and a stranger’s office two counties over. We’ve changed that for Chatham County. From our spot on Food Lion Plaza, off US-421 and US-64, we perform the surgical work most people actually need — wisdom teeth, extractions, dental implants, and minor bone grafting — close to home, by the same team that already knows your mouth.
Aching wisdom tooth or a tooth that has to come out? Call (984) 265-1655 — we’ll image it locally and give you a straight plan.
Surgical Care We Provide Locally
- Wisdom teeth — erupted molars and many of the impacted kind
- Extractions — basic removals and the surgical type for shattered teeth or stubborn roots
- Dental implants — placed surgically with 3D planning
- Light bone grafting — holding the socket and ridge after a tooth comes out, and small grafts beside an implant
- Ridge leveling — smoothing bone as teeth are removed when a denture is coming
- Tori removal — bony bumps, in chosen cases
Wisdom Teeth — What Stays Here and What Doesn't
Third molars usually crowd in during the late teens and early twenties, and without room they get stuck under the gum or push against the next tooth, causing pain and repeat infections. For most Chatham County patients, that’s a removal we do right here — erupted wisdom teeth and a wide range of impacted ones included — without anyone leaving town.
Still, we won’t tell you we take out every one. A wisdom tooth buried unusually deep, or with roots running tight against the jaw nerve or sinus, carries more risk than belongs in a general office. We image each case in 3D to spot exactly that, and when the scan points to a specialist, we say so and refer you instead of taking a chance. Keeping you safe sometimes means sending you elsewhere — and we’d rather do that than overreach.
Comfort Options
You stay numb and pain-free through local anesthesia, and for the jitters beforehand we offer nitrous oxide — the laughing gas that relaxes you during the appointment and clears quickly when it’s done — plus an oral anti-anxiety medication we can prescribe to take before you come in. IV sedation isn’t something we provide here; the occasional case that needs to be fully asleep is referred to a surgeon equipped for it.
When we refer out. Honesty is part of caring for neighbors. Reconstructive jaw surgery, repair after facial injury, sinus lifts, and biopsy work go out to an oral and maxillofacial surgeon. So do third molars buried very deep or wrapped near the nerve or sinus, plus any infection that has traveled into the neck or made the tissue feel hard. We set up the referral and forward your imaging so you don’t start from scratch.
Cost and Insurance
A medically needed removal — wisdom teeth too — is covered under most plans, and our Siler City office is in network with many carriers, Medicare included for those who qualify. Because the charge depends on how difficult the tooth is, we don’t publish one number; we review your benefits and hand you a written quote at the consult. Implant costs live on our Siler City implants page. Whatever’s left over, Sunbit, CareCredit, or our O2 Advantage Plan makes it easier to manage.
Oral Surgery— Siler City – Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to drive to the city for this?
Usually not — wisdom teeth, removals, implants, and small grafts happen right here. Only the higher-risk surgery (very deep or nerve-close teeth, jaw work, sinus lifts) gets sent to a specialist.
Do you remove every wisdom tooth?
No. The erupted ones and lots of buried ones, yes, each scanned in 3D first. Teeth sitting deep or near the nerve or sinus head to a surgeon, and you’ll know in advance.
What sedation do you provide?
We numb you completely, can add laughing gas for nerves, and may prescribe a calming tablet for before the visit. Intravenous sedation isn’t part of what we offer.
Is it covered by insurance?
Most carriers cover medically necessary removals, and we’re in network with many — Medicare too, for those eligible. You’ll get a written quote at the consult; Sunbit, CareCredit, or our O2 Advantage Plan handle the rest.
How long is recovery?
A few days of taking it easy and you’re mostly there, fully back in roughly a week. Guarding the clot on day one keeps dry socket away.
