Dental Insurance Accepted at O2 Dental Group of Raleigh, NC

Raleigh’s workforce is as varied as the city itself — state government employees, Research Triangle Park professionals, federal contractors, NCSU faculty and staff, active duty and retired military families, and retirees who landed here after careers elsewhere. That variety shows up directly in the dental insurance landscape. The plans that cover state employees look different from those carried by federal workers, and both look different from the Medicare Advantage plans that many older patients bring in. Our front office team at the North Raleigh office has encountered most of them and knows how to navigate the differences.

We accept most major PPO dental insurance plans at our Tin Roof Way location. Before your first appointment, our team verifies your specific plan, confirms in-network status, explains your benefits in plain language, and gives you a realistic cost estimate before treatment is scheduled. No decoding an explanation of benefits on your own. No unexpected bills at checkout.

Notes on Specific Plans at the Raleigh Location

BCBS of NC

Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina is probably the most commonly carried plan in this patient population, particularly among state employees and those working in the broader RTP corridor. We are in network with BCBS of NC at the Raleigh location. That said, BCBS offers a wide range of plan types — State Health Plan, Blue Options, Blue Local, and others — and in-network status can vary between them. Our team will confirm your specific BCBS plan during the verification call and tell you exactly where things stand before you come in.

GEHA / Connection Dental

Federal employees and federal retirees make up a real segment of the Raleigh patient base, especially those connected to the various agencies operating in and around the capital city. GEHA/Connection Dental is accepted at our Raleigh office. If your coverage comes through federal employment or federal retirement and you have been assuming you need to find a different provider, it is worth a quick call to verify before you look elsewhere.

Medicare Advantage Dental Plans

Original Medicare — Parts A and B — does not cover most dental procedures. If you have dental benefits through Medicare, those come through a Medicare Advantage plan (Part C). O2 Dental Group of Raleigh accepts Aetna Medicare, Humana Medicare, and United Healthcare Medicare dental plans. The coverage levels, annual maximums, and covered procedure categories vary considerably between these carriers, so our team will work through exactly what your plan covers before any treatment is discussed. Many patients are genuinely surprised by how much their Medicare Advantage plan pays when the benefits are verified correctly rather than assumed.

DHA / Sunlife and United Concordia

Both DHA/Sunlife and United Concordia are accepted at the Raleigh location. United Concordia is commonly carried by federal employees and some military-affiliated families. If either of these is your plan, call us to verify the specific variation before your visit.

How Insurance Works at O2 Dental Group of Raleigh

Most patients arrive at a dental office not entirely sure what their plan covers, what their deductible situation is, or what they will owe at the end. We try to take that uncertainty off the table before you walk in.

At our Raleigh office, the front desk team:

  • Verifies your benefits before your appointment — not at check-in, but before you arrive, so you know what to expect
  • Explains your annual maximum, deductible status, waiting periods, and frequency limitations in plain language rather than insurance terminology
  • Coordinates primary and secondary insurance when you have dual coverage and files both claims so you do not have to manage that process yourself
  • Provides a written cost estimate before treatment is scheduled, showing what insurance is expected to cover and what your estimated out-of-pocket responsibility is
  • Files courtesy out-of-network claims for patients whose plans we do not participate with directly, helping recover whatever reimbursement their plan allows

Insurance estimates are not payment guarantees — the carrier makes the final determination after the claim is processed. But our team will give you the most accurate picture possible before anything is booked.

No Dental Insurance? You Still Have Good Options in Raleigh.

A notable share of patients who come to our North Raleigh office do not carry dental insurance — whether they are self-employed, between jobs, or simply in a situation where employer coverage does not include dental. For those patients, two alternatives are available.
The O2 Advantage Plan is our in-house membership for uninsured patients. It offers discounted rates on preventive and restorative care at the Raleigh office with no deductibles, no waiting periods, no annual dollar limits, and no pre-authorization requirements. Cosmetic dentistry is included. You enroll, the membership applies immediately, and you pay the discounted rate at the time of service. Learn more about the O2 Advantage Plan.
For larger treatment plans — implants, crowns, full cosmetic work — monthly payment financing through Sunbit is available. The application takes about 60 seconds and does not require strong credit. Apply for Raleigh financing here.
