Dental Implant Cost in Raleigh: Our Prices, in Plain Numbers

Ask five Raleigh practices what an implant costs and you’ll usually hear “it depends” five times. It does depend, but not so much that you can’t get a real range up front. Here’s what implants cost at our North Raleigh office on Tin Roof Way, where we plan them on our own 3D scanner and place them in-house.
Limited-time single-implant bundle
$3,997
Includes the extraction of the failing tooth, a bone graft, placement of the implant and a temporary tooth. Your written estimate lists anything outside the bundle before you agree to treatment.

What a single implant actually includes

An implant tooth is three separate pieces, and a quote that doesn’t mention all three isn’t a complete quote.

The implant

A small titanium post placed in the jawbone where the root used to be.

The abutment

The connector that attaches to the implant and holds the crown.

The crown

The visible tooth. Ours are custom zirconia, made by a dental lab and shaded to match your teeth.
Our $3,000 to $6,000 range covers all three. What pushes a case toward the top of the range is usually the tooth’s position (back molars carry more chewing force) and how much bone and gum work the site needs.

What moves your number up or down

Whether the old tooth is still there

If the tooth is failing but hasn’t been removed yet, it has to come out first. That’s what the $3,997 bundle is built around: one price for the extraction, the graft, the implant and a temporary tooth, instead of adding them up separately.

How much bone you have

Bone starts to shrink once a tooth is lost, and some sites don’t have enough left to anchor an implant. A bone graft rebuilds it. The 3D CBCT scan at your consultation shows the bone’s height and width, so you’ll know before treatment whether you need one.

Whether same-day placement is possible

Patients with solid bone and healthy gums can often have the implant placed the same day the tooth comes out, with a temporary tooth so you don’t leave with a gap. If the site needs to heal first, placement happens a few months later.

How many teeth you're replacing

Several missing teeth in a row don’t always need one implant each; two implants can support a bridge. When most or all teeth on an arch are failing, a snap-on denture or All-on-4 is usually far more cost-effective than individual implants.

The timeline from consultation to finished tooth

Consultation: exam, 3D scan and a written estimate. You’ll see your bone on screen and know whether you need a graft.
Placement: the implant goes in, often the same day as the extraction for good candidates. A temporary tooth fills the space.
Healing, about three to four months: the bone grows onto the implant and locks it in place. You eat and smile normally with the temporary.
Final crown, two visits: we take a digital impression, the lab makes your zirconia crown, and we seat it at a follow-up appointment.
More detail on the procedure itself is on our single-tooth implants in Raleigh page.

Implant, bridge or leaving the gap

An implant costs more up front than the alternatives. Here’s what you’re comparing it against.
A bridge fills the gap by putting crowns on the two teeth on either side and hanging a false tooth between them. It’s faster, but it means grinding down two healthy teeth, and the bone under the missing tooth keeps shrinking. See dental bridges in Raleigh.
A partial denture is the lowest-cost option and comes out at night. It’s a reasonable choice for some people, though many find it less comfortable for chewing. See dentures in Raleigh.
Leaving the gap costs nothing today, but the neighboring teeth tend to tip into the space and the opposing tooth can drift. Fixing that later often costs more than the implant would have.

Insurance, the O2 Advantage Plan and monthly payments

Dental insurance

Many plans pay part of an implant, often around half, up to your annual maximum, which is commonly $1,000 to $2,000. Some plans exclude implants entirely, and some cover the crown but not the implant itself. We check your plan and show you the expected split before treatment. One plan worth noting: FEP BlueDental High Option has no annual maximum for in-network care, and our Raleigh office is in network.
Other plans the Raleigh office accepts in network include Delta Dental and Blue Cross NC Dental Blue; see the full Raleigh insurance list.

O2 Advantage Plan

Members of our in-house O2 Advantage Plan get 20% off implant treatment, which brings a $3,000 to $6,000 single implant down to $2,400 to $4,800. Membership starts at $25 a month and also includes your routine cleanings, exams and X-rays.

Monthly payments

Sunbit and CareCredit both offer monthly plans. As a simple example, $6,000 spread over 24 months is $250 a month before any interest. Rates and terms depend on the plan you’re approved for; details are on our financing page.
